Community & Volunteer Projects
Every year Heather's Victory Gardens commits to a Community or Volunteer Project where we offer free gardening, planting &/or floral services.
2022 Community Project was creating a garden sanctuary for Daniel Spranger. Daniel is 16 years old and was hospitalized with COVID-19. He has spent months in the pediatric ICU battling multiple complications. Daniel's family are looking to the community to help create a beautiful garden in his backyard so that when he does return home, he has a serene oasis where he can relax. Daniel was born with multiple health issues, including spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and epilepsy. An accessible wheelchair path will be donated by a local landscape company and Heather's Victory Gardens will be donating flower starts, building new garden spaces, raised beds and any additional garden and planting needs for Daniel's garden.

2024 Community Project was supporting DOG AIDE Detroit with their Jubilee fundraiser. Dog Aide is unlike most all other animal rescues out there. Heather comes from the field of education so when she found out that Dog Aide's mission is to educate current dog owners on the best ways to care & keep their pets, no matter their socioeconomic background - we were all in. Nevermind that Heather & Joel are HUGE animal lovers (with a particular fondness for dogs, having two of their own). Check out Dog Aide's website on more ways to volunteer and donate. From their website: "Dog Aide supports Detroit dog owners and their dogs by providing underserved families with access to resources, care, and assistance they need to keep their pets safe, happy and healthy in their homes.dogaide.com/
